How do you clean your ballet slippers/shoes?

I came back from class and they were really dirty. I'm new at ballet so I don't know how I should clean them :)

How do you clean your ballet slippers/shoes?
Since they are canvas all you have to do is throw them in the washer. Don't put them in the dryer though. the best way to dry them is to lay them flat till they are just damp, then wear them around the house until dry. this forms them to your feet, in fact many dancer's wash their shoes as soon as they get them to make them fit better. hope this helps

Reply:Like the previous answers, I suggest hand washing if they are leather. If they are canvas you can wash them in the machine, but I'd recommend putting them in a lingerie bag just to be safe.
Reply:If you are wearing leather shoes then definitely hand wash them, but if your shoes are canvas you can throw them in the washer. Just don't machine dry.
Reply:i always washed them in the washing machine
Reply:The upper part of the shoes are leather. So, I would recommend just cleaning them of with just some mild detergent. When I took ballet, I found this to be effective in cleaning my shoes.
