Where are the wizard of oz slippers now?

And how much are they worth?

Where are the wizard of oz slippers now?
MGM personnel made several pairs of slippers for Garland to use during the filming--a common practice with important costumes and props. On May 24, 2000, a pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the film (with red sequins; seven pairs are believed to exist) sold at auction for $666,000.

One pair of Ruby Slippers supposedly exist as the property of Bill Thomas. But he refuses to show them publicly. They are supposedly size 5 and have Judy Garland's name written on the inside.

Another pair were made for publicity and are currently on display at The Smithsonian.

Two other known pairs are owned privately.
Reply:There are 4 sets. One set was actually stolen from Judy Garland's Museum in Minnesota. Here is the link to the article.

Reply:Judy Garland's Shoes Auctioned for $12,000

A pair of ruby red silk shoes worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the ''Wizard of Oz'' were auctioned yesterday for $12,000 at Christie's East, the annex of Christie's at 219 East 67th Street. The California collector who bought the shoes was not identified.

This is the second pair of red slippers from the film that have sold for a five-figure price at auction. The other pair went for $15,000 at a sale of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer memorabilia by Weiss Company Auctioneers of Los Angeles in 1970. The disparity in price was attributed to the fact that at the earlier auction it was thought that those shoes were the only pair extant. Now three pairs are known to exist.

The size 5B shoes that Dorothy wore on the yellow brick road are of red silk, covered in sequins, embellished with flat bows and lined in white kid.
