Where are Dorothy's Ruby Slippers now ? (from Wizzard of Oz film)?
They are in the Smithsonian in Washington DC.

They are up in the gallery with a lot of other movie memorabilia.

I have seen them, and they look like they got quite a workout during filming.

I wonder if there is another pair somewhere? It seems like they would have had more than one pair made.

They were made out of fabric and sequins, nothing too glamorous, they looked like a regular pair of flats with sequins on them.
Reply:I'm wearing them now ! i found them in a lay-by on the B3526!

Reply:I live in DC and they are here in the Smithsonian Museum of American History, right next to Muhammad Ali's boxing gloves. :-)

Its under rennovation right now so they placed some of the more popular artifacts in the Air and Space Museum.

Check this link out, there is a picture of it on the front page of the smithsonian web site.
Reply:I saw something about them on tv the other day...I think they were sold at auction for a phenominal amount of money then shortly there after they were stolen. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember.
Reply:There are thought to be seven pairs of ruby slippers, of which the whereabouts of five are known. Each has an estimated value of $1.5 million, making them the most expensive Hollywood memorabilia. They have been dubbed by some as "The Holy Grail" of all Hollywood nostalgia.
Reply:They are on display at Disney's MGM Studios in Florida. You will walk past them waiting in line to go on the Great Movie Ride.

They were fitted with sequins, and red glitter. No kidding. They couldn't make the same kind of synthetic material, and worked with what they hand. I thought it was amazing, myself.
Reply:On May 24, 2000 the ruby slippers Dorothy wore in the movie Wizard Of Oz were sold as part of the "Century of Hollywood" auction at Christie's in New York City. The shoes went for 600,000.00 to Hollywood memorabillia collector David Elkouby. The winning bid also included a commission of 66,000.00 for a grand total of 666,000.00

And just to let you know there were 9 different pairs of ruby slippers--not 7.
Reply:I have a dog just like Toto so I try to follow everything about The Wizard of Oz... currently they are at the Smithsonian in D.C. I put some links that have information about them. Hope this helps!
