Where can I find ballet slippers/shoes for my tiny (23pounds) 2 year old who is starting dance class?
If you haven't found them yet, you have a couple of options.

#1. Call your studio and ask if you can order them through them. My studio sells or orders everything our students use at the studio.

#2. Try Payless, Target, and Walmart. All three usually around the end of August and early September will carry ballet slippers from tiny little toddler sizes, and up to child's 4. Make sure the ones you choose are either leather, or faux leather, and have a suede sole, not the satin things that have little satin bows on the top. Those are not ballet slippers, they are bedroom slippers!

#3. Online. Check out discountdance.com for relatively inexpensive online dancewear and footwear ordering.

Please be sure that you get slippers similar to these:

And NOT the satin ballet looking flats that are used as bedroom slippers. I see a few parents attempt to walk into the class with these on their toddler's feet on the first day, and I turn them right back around and tell them they need appropriate shoes. These are dangerous in the dance studio, because they are slippery, and do not fit the child's foot properly. Even your little toddler can suffer a sprain or a fracture with these shoes. They really should take them off of the market, as they pose a health risk to young children.
Reply:I would check out discount dance supply they have a catalog and they have a web site. Also ask the dance studio what brand and style of ballet shoes does your daughter need.

You can also go to any dance shoppe to purchase her ballet shoes. But, I would ask the dance studio first what brand and style ballet shoe would she need. I hope that I helped you out.

Reply:discountdance is your best bet, capezio makes the 205 daisey as small as a kids 5...and ballet shoes run very small so she should have many options. i'd lay odds that the 5 is too small, they're very tiny
Reply:Payless
Reply:did you say she is two years old? Slow down - I feel sorry for this kid. surely these are more yr expectations, she's a bit young.- does anyone agree with me?

You don't tell us your little one's shoe size, or the length of her teeny foot in inches, so all I could do was guess.

It's not a bad idea to ask the instructor of this class if she knows of any local sources.
Reply:go to the dance store closest to your home, and have one of the people working there try different shoes on her feet, that way you will be sure that the shoes fit her correctly, never buy shoes online unless you know for sure what size your daughter is in ballet shoes.
