Why do they call them "slippers" if you aren't supposed to slip in them?

because you can easily slip your feet in and out of them without bending or tying or strapping and all that other junk.

because you slip your feet into them

Reply:Because you don't have to tie them up, you just "slip" them on. So they called them Slippers.

Reply:Why are they driveways when you park on them and parkways when you drive on them. You call them the opposit of what you really mean, it's an American thing.
