Does anyone remember seeing lady-slippers while on a walk through the woods? and were they always pink?

I was wondering if they were ever cultivated.

I remember seeing them in different wooded areas,and I was once lucky enough to live in an area with woods behind my home where there were a few growing(yes,they were pink).They are my favorite!As far as I know they are still not legal to cultivate,but there are different types of lady slippers that are cultivated(I have seen these in yellow and white) and they can be bought at a few upscale nurseries but each plant ranges from $20 to $100!
Reply:Yes. I've seen white ones. No I never cultivated them - which I suspect would be very hard to replicate their environment.
Reply:I have seen them as they were pointed out to me when I was a city kid, playing in the woods of Long Island, they seem to be in the area of a fire break and pines. They were always pink, but can be yellow. They were hard to transplant, and not legal to do so. We picked them for show and tell and were scolded for doing so.

:((( . As I was inspecting various Units ( plots of land ) I would come across them from time to time. The ones I saw were white to greenish and some appeared to be somewhat translucent. It was like the icing on the cake when you would least expected it, they made my hike well worth it !


I am very sad to say, I never had the pleasure to have seen a pink Lady-Slipper.
