Do you think offering slippers to dance in at a wedding reception is a good idea?

Never heard of that before, but I like the idea. My only concern would be for those wearing the slippers getting stepped on by those still wearing shoes. However, women will most likely be wearing strappy shoes anyway if they get stepped on. It will also be a nice change in favors.

I've heard of people doing this, but unless you have an unlimited budget, or the slippers are your wedding favors for the guests, then I would nix them.

I think that people can get a little too carried away with worrying about the guests' comfort. You should, of course, do as much as you can to make them feel appreciated, but I think that providing a nice dinner and giving them a thoughtful favor is plenty. Some people end up with sore feet, but not everyone, so it might end up being a waste of money in the end. I would rather see the bride and groom spend that money on something else for themselves or the reception than on slippers for dancing.

However, if you have a large budget and you're having a destination wedding, you could include them in the welcome basket for your guests' hotel rooms with a note saying to use them during the reception if their feet get sore from dancing.
Reply:I wouldn't use them, but I know alot of people (mainly women) do take their shoes off during the night because their shoes start to hurt them... So it might be a cute idea
Reply:You can offer them to your bridal party. I wouldn't do it for the entire guest list.

I do know someone who bought her bridal party birkenstocks for the reception. It was their gift. She took them out a few weeks before the wedding, and bought them all shoes.
Reply:sounds like a good idea... alot of woman at my wedding ended up shoeless by the end of the night...
Reply:I think that is a real cute idea! There are a few things to consider though. One poster did mention cost, you know your guests, so do you think they would be used? There is also the fact that they might slip on the dance floor. Just a few things to consider.
